Make full use of the hangar space.

Typically situation in a hangar – managed with a conventional tow tractor.

The biggest disadvantages are:

  • All aircraft faces to the hangars gate because you have to consider the exit path of the tow tractor. Parking directly in a hangars corner is impossible.
  • The distance between the aircraft has to be acceptably big. Maneuvering with a tow tractor means you have to move the machine to turn the nose wheel. Turning the nose wheel without moving the aircraft is impossible!

In our example you are only able to put a B777 together with a A320 in the same hangar. You are not able to use your hangars full capacity!

Same hangar – more aircraft with Mototok SPACER 200.

The compact design of the Mototok Spacer-Series allows you to accommodate more aircraft and increase your hangar capacity up to 150 percent compared to other tugs such as conventional tow tractors:

  • Park your aircraft directly towards a wall or in the hangars corner. You don’t have to consider the exit path of Mototok due to Mototoks very compact design.
  • „Stack“ aircraft – park your aircraft with extreme minimal distance. Maneuvering in extreme tight situations is from now on no problem.

For our example it means, that you can park three more A320 (or similar) in the same hangar.

Increase the capacity of your hangar up to 150% by optimizing parking space!

Automatic Hydraulic Nosegear Loading

Sensor controlled – smart, fast, easy and safe.

Engaging and Disengaging the Nose Wheel
The engaging procedure can be started automatically by pressing just one button on the remote control:
Drive the Mototok with opened hydraulical door and lowered platform towards the nose wheel of the aircraft until the inner wedge touches the nose wheel of the aircraft. Then press the start-button on the remote control.
The hydraulical door closes …
… and clamps the nose wheel safe and gently with a specific pressure.
The platform lifts up and raises the nose wheel.

Convenient Usage

Loading the nose gear is as simple as tapping a button on the remote.

Docking takes a matter of seconds from the rear or front of the nose wheel. Simply drive the Mototok up to the nose wheel. The wheel is then hydraulically fixed firmly in position and raised – ready for take off! All this with no awkward strap, no inconvenient winch. No bolts or tools are required.

  • Radio remote controlled operating under an industrial frequency code approved for airports
  • Automatic connection to the aircraft‘s nose wheel with one tap on a button of the remote
  • No straps, no winch, no tools required

Intelligent features

Safety first: I-NPS – Intelligent Nosegear Protection System.

Achieve more safety in your daily operation: Intelligent Oversteering Protection System (I-NPS) is our newest contribution to prevent damages on the nose gear whilst shunting the aircraft. Equipped with several sensors which measures the forces and torques on the nose gear, Mototoks oversteering protection system commences, when the torque reaches a set limit. Damages of the sensitive nose gear is hereby impossible.

I-NPS gives an alarm output and stops the Mototok immediately. After the oversteering and stop occur, the operator can correct the movement and continue immediately.

Ground Handling goes Digital – the new soft- and hardware features.

Mototok Spacer 200 comes with a central processing unit (CPU) for features and adjustments relating to

  • Towing and braking forces
  • Oversteering protection
  • Voice announcements
  • Unit diagnostics
  • Log files
  • User access

Log in for
operation

The quickest log in can be done via a RFCI-card and an appropriate card reader on the machine. According to the authorization level, the user is able to move the Mototok, check or adjust the settings or read out the log files.

Turning on the spot

Maximum manoeuvrability and safe positioning of the aircraft even in very tight spaces: Mototok turns the raised nose wheel on the spot under the fuselage. The wingtips and fuselage remain virtually immobile. This is a unique advantage when manoeuvring aircraft of this size.

Automatic Hydraulic Nosegear Loading

Sensor controlled – smart, fast, easy and safe.

Loading the nose wheel with a Mototok Spacer 8600 electric tug is quick and easy. No winch, no lashing straps, no laborious bending down to fix the nose wheel. Let the hydraulic system do the work for you!
Drive the Mototok with opened hydraulical door and lowered platform towards the nose wheel of the aircraft until the nose wheel touches the inner wedge the nose wheel platform. Then press the start-button on the remote control.
The hydraulical door closes. If necessary, the sliding table is adjustable for fitting smaller nose wheels.
The sliding table presses the nose wheel towards the closed hydraulical door until a specified pressure is reached.
The platform lifts up and raises the nose wheel.
Lastly the operator has to bring down the safety paddles manually – ready for moving the aircraft. The whole procedure takes 10-15 seconds only.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Looking for more details about Mototok’s capabilities, compatibility or usage? Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our electric towbarless tugs, ground handling integration, and aircraft compatibility.

Compatible with narrow-body (Spacer 8600 MA & NG up to 105 tons or 231,485 lbs) as well as wide-body aircraft (Spacer 200) up to 200 tonnes or 440,924 lbs. This includes regional and bigger business aircraft.

SPACER-Series tugs are Mototok’s optimum solution of fully-electric, towbarless, and remote-controlled aircraft tugs for maintaining narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, trusted by Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and fixed-base operators (FBOs) worldwide.

Mototok SPACER-Series tugs have several advantages compared to other aircraft tugs, the central benefits being:

  • Increased time efficiency: With Mototok SPACER-Series tugs, automatic nosegear loading is a matter of only 10 to 15 seconds. Given their remote-controlled precision and towbarless, compact design, Mototok tugs are, moreover, able to access aircraft in the hangar more than twice as quickly as other aircraft tugs.

  • Improved hangar efficiency: Mototok SPACER-Series tugs help airports, MROs and FBOs to accommodate more aircraft by optimizing hangar capacity up to 150 percent.

  • Low maintenance: Mototok tugs are maintenance free in daily operation, therefore requiring minimal maintenance costs.

  • Ease of use: Towbarless and remote-controlled Mototok tugs are easy to maneuver, with no additional license necessary.

  • One person operation: Since the remote control feature enables circumferential view, Mototok tugs can be safely operated by a single person.

  • Sustainability: Given their fully-electric drive, Mototok SPACER-Series tugs are the sustainable alternative to conventional Diesel tugs.

  • Optional AGV capability: The SPACER-Series can also be upgraded with Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) technology, enabling fully automated towing of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. With AGV integration, aircraft movements such as pushback and positioning inside the hangar can be executed autonomously, repeatable, and with maximum process reliability.

Connecting Mototok SPACER-Series tugs to the aircraft is highly convenient: An automatic hydraulic and sensor controlled system ensures that loading and unloading the nose gear is quick, simple, and safe. In contrast to other aircraft tugs, there is no winch or lashing straps required, nor physical effort to fix the nose wheel.

Mototok SPACER-Series tugs help airports, MROs and FBOs to optimize hangar capacity up to 150 percent and accommodate more aircraft. Thanks to their towbarless design, Mototok tugs require minimum space while shunting the aircraft; their remote control feature enables unparalleled precision and circumferential view; and the automatic nosegear loading and compact design allow the operator to park aircraft in the last corner of the hangar without having to consider an exit path.
